Jesse L. Clark, 71, of Shelbyville, TN
SOUTH BEND - Jesse L. Clark, 71, of Shelbyville, TN, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1st, 2013, at the Glen Oak Convalescent Center.
Jesse was born November 22, 1941, in South Bend, IN, to Lee and Donabel Clark, who preceded him in death. His brother, Alan Clark, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew (Cheryl) Clark of Shelbyville, TN, and Mark Clark of Arizona; two daughters, Marie Ehler of Arizona and Michelle Clark of Oregon; one brother, Gary (Sonja) Clark of Ontario, California; two sisters, Marie (Red) Williams of South Bend and Malia (Rod) Mann of Shelbyville, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
At the age of 17, Jesse joined the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam Era. Jesse was a cook while in the Marine Corps; he said "that was much easier than having to tote all his gear up and down hills on a march." After leaving the Marine Corps he was a cook until being hired by Olsen Farms. He lived in Huntington Beach, CA, until being transferred by Olsen Farms to Tempe, Arizona, where he raised his family. Later, he was employed by Tempe Schools as a truck driver until he retired in 1998. In 2005, he moved to Shelbyville, TN, with son Matthew and his wife, Cheryl, who was his caretaker for 10 years.
Per his request, his remains have been cremated.
A Military Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 28th, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore. North Liberty VFW Post 1954 and American Legion Post 365 will conduct Military Graveside Services.
The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association , located at 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
