Tribute to a wounded warrior
His injuries came from a past now dim,
But still the scars are seen, He gave for a cause, an idea that to many was unseen, But now for me it is clear. I didn’t know him then, When he went across the sea to fight where many would not go, But I see those days there in his eyes. Can his wounds be healed? What pain is still there? No, his scars will remain, But can fade with time. It hurts me, but not like him, The torturous mem’ries he holds. I wish new life for this wounded warrior, my knight, For deserving he surely is, Can I help give that to him, the peace that should be his, For he trod many steps I will never know, With this tribute I will begin. Now let him hear me say “thank you” for what he gave. I notice, I appreciate it, and I love him for it. For standing against the reproach, the easy way, For always being faithful even when it made no sense. May God reward him for it. ~ By Lisa Clay |
