Robert Alan Jones, 72, Las Vegas, NV

Robert Alan Jones, of Washington, D.C., Loveland, Co., and Las Vegas, born Nov. 27, 1940, gently departed from this world at home, surrounded by family, Sept. 14, 2013.

Mr. Jones grew up in Arlington, Va., the son of Robert Franklin Jones and Dorothy Anita Lee Jones of Arlington.

He graduated from George Washington University and University of Virginia Law School. Mr. Jones was an officer lawyer in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He served as assistant U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C. He was co-developer of first Prosecutors' Management Information System (PROMIS). Mr. Jones was a special counsel to the law enforcement assistance administration for the U.S. Department of Justice. He was on special assignments to the White House, Office of Counsel to the President and the President's Commission on Amnesty for Vietnam War protestors. Mr. Jones was a civil and criminal tax attorney. He was owner of Silver State Airlines, American Business Computers, USA Rental Car Co., "Bad Ass Coffee" Company. He was a devoted fan to the Washington Redskins and the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. He loved America, chocolate milkshakes, blackjack, and helping people. Above all, Mr. Jones treasured his family and friends.

He is survived by his three sons, Hawk Jones, Christopher Jones and J.C. Jones; his stepchildren, Daniel Waugh and Eliza Waugh, and their mother, Morning Star; his godchildren, Ashley Hanley and Keith Ruiz and their mother, Lynette Ball; six grandchildren who he adored, Anna Waugh, Becky Waugh, Wyatt Martin, Henry Martin, Aidan Jones and Nadia Jones; a brother Richard Jones; and nephew Raymond Lee Jones.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas.
