William Roosevelt Sewell, 79, Taylors, SC

On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, Mr. William Roosevelt Sewell traveled from this life to eternity. He was born on Sunday, October 22, 1933in Spartanburg, SC to the late Mr. Willie Homer and Mrs. Pellie Johnson Sewell and united in marriage to Doris Elaine Sewell.

He as a member of Aiken Chapel Baptist Church. Also a member of American Legion, Leadership Circle, and the VFW Post #39.

Mr. William attended the Atlanta Area Technical School in Atlanta, Georgia. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1953 and at the end of his tour of duty received an honorable discharge. He retired from Kraft Trucking Corp.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Doris of the home; three daughter, Kim (Patrick) McCullough and Karen Sewell both of Greer, SC, Tiffany Sewell of Georgia; a son, William R. Sewell II of the home; a step daughter, Tekorya Foster of the home; two step sons, Trenton Lasenbery of the home and Perryon Foster of Wellford, SC; a sister, Julia Sewell of Greenville, SC; a brother, Guy (Tiny) Sewell of Hampton, VA, one aunt, Aran Ann Williams of Taylors, SC; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Cornell Grady, Jacqueline Sewell and Lelia Belle Hawkins; three brothers, John Sewell, Sam Strickland and Percy Strickland.

Funeral service will be held at Aiken Chapel Baptist Church on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:ooam with burial in MJ "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC. Public viewing will be on Thursday from 1 to 7pm at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
