Just moved downtown to La Placita Village 110 S Church Ave. Working on establishing a
little prayer chapel in the Downtown which would be open all the time. Many of our members also form a Corps of volunteers for downtown civic events. It helps the Veterans in that the they do not isolate and the camaraderie amongst us is high. And one of the by-products is that we keep the name of Pointman Ministries in the public eye. We also get to share our 'medication stories" as we spread the good news!!
I attend all of the Graduation ceremonies for the vets who are coming out of the PTSD program at the Tucson VA. Pointman has become a known commodity at the VA. Many of the referrals to Lydia's website for the wives, come from the Therapists at the VA. This is most encouraging in such a secular world
Lydia remains a rock for the wives of vets, and continues to be used as a speaker and resource for families.
I attend tons of peer counseling sessions with Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans. As the representative of PMIM I traveled to 5 cities this past year to participate in Retreats for Veterans with PTSD. The last one being a National Retreat held here in Tucson for Pastors and Chaplains who were combat veterans of all wars.
I continue to be available by pager 24 hours a day for crisis counseling and home visits. And I march forward as a Veteran Service Officer assisting with claims with the Holy Spirit as my guide.
Pointman Tucson continues to seek out and attend all Veteran related events in the area. We are always in the Veteran Day parade and present on Memorial Day. The 20th annual Nam Jam had a table manned by one of our stalwart members, Paul Hawley; son of a Baptist Minister. We helped with the Lighting of the Christmas Tree downtown, and Pointman provided the volunteers to man the information booth for the festivities. Got a new member out of the activity.
I continue to provide commentary to local media as a freelance journalist and a spokesman for Pointman Ministries and its God given mission.
We have been invited to conduct an In-Service lecture for the VA staff on the topic of PTSD and Spirituality. I will be doing this with a new member named David Powell, who just happens to have been in 3/7 Marines as and Engineer and mine sweeper.
