Turned on the news thismorning to find that in Chickasha, OK last night a black woman was arrested for attempting to drown her 3 kids, ages 5, 9, and 10. They were in the bathtub with shampoo in their hair. The thing that strikes home to me is the fact that family members noticed she was having severe problems and tried to get DHS involved and get the kids out of there. Oh and also that she very recently returned from military duty around Kuwait and that since her return she had lost her car, house, and everything she had. The sad thing here is that nobody would help her when she was in obvious need of help.

You got to love the Government system and it's response for trying to get legitimate help. We can just hope and pray the soldier gets the help she desperately needs and that her children are safe.:depressed It never ceases to amaize how government employees fail Veterans in their time of need.

Isn't it amazing how we're ignored as long as we suck it up, do what we're told, stretch ourselves razor thin covering the playing field, and we only get "help"/bandaid after the fact.

Even more amazing (but also predictable) is how that when the vet admits that they need help, the VA comes back with a big fat denial. Stating that you never had problems before and were never treated for PTSD seems to be their big kick down here. But, as I have stated before, if one seeks help while still in the military, you can kiss your career goodbye, because instantly you are the weak link in your chain of command. THIS IS THE PROBLEM, PEOPLE! Commanders are crucifying soldiers over their invisible wounds and making them seem like less of a human being. It happened to me, and I GURANTEE this is more rampant than people want to believe. America does not want to entertain the thought that something is being covered up, but its even apparant in our house of representatives.:opps:

Yes, it is sad that everyone says "We support the troops", but when we really need help and ask for it we get the shaft instead. I'm still waiting to hear from the VA on my claim. I'm sure they have a really great reason for taking so long, oh yea "We are working very hard on your claim, however you forgot to cross a "t" on one form so we are returning it to you. Please cross the "t" and return it to us so we can insure your claim is processed as soon as possible." Yea, right.

This underscores the very important mission each one of us has been given by God: to welcome home this generation of returnees, provide them with information, but more importantly provide them with our name, phone numbers and link to the Point Man website and 800 Help line. The "system" is failing, AGAIN. Only with each one of us filling this gap, in God's name and as Squad Leaders for Christ, can we hope to prevent the growing number of OIF/OEF casualties once they get back home.
