I wanted to share with you an email from the wives group I recieved..

While we totally appreciate you asking about emailing about the pointman group and helping people with PTSD, we do ask that you do not discuss this with the wives in the group. THis is something that the military will diagnose and find the right help for those in need but not something we need to be self analizing through a group of wives. I am sure you are just trying to help through your own experiences but this can become very harmful to discuss without a degree to do so. I hope you understand that we do want you to be a part of our group but do ask that you abide by our rules with the group. Thanks so much

I wanted to share this with you all and my frustration. I made a suggestion, and gave an opinion and was sent this email. I never said the man had it, I said he could and to get help.. I guess ignorance is bliss... You live, you learn.

Good intentions, but you have to realize that to most people saying we have PTSD is like saying "AIDS" and they think we are all "drug crazed drunken baby killing madmen waiting to climb up on a building and start shooting people". This is why so many of us are unemployed as no one understands or wants to attempt to try.
Sorry you had to have some moron wife send you something like this as you did nothing wrong.

I know what you mean. I guess at the time I wasn't thinking about it that way. Another wife stated that her husband had been diagnosed with combat stress.. Well DUH!! It's ptsd! I think I may have heard of combat stress being acute and non acute.. Don't remember for sure though.. Anyway, Thanks for the encouragment!

What a bunch of retards.

"Yes, Steph very nice of you offer assistance. We, however, prefer to ignore the situation and it will go away, you see. Too, the all-knowing, all-supreme, pro-active United States Army will fix it all for our husbands. The government will never let us down!"

That was my translation. I am fluent in the language of Dysfunction.

So, young lady... did you ever get Chuck Dean's book, NAMVET? Again, this work will answer alot of your questions and concerns and also provide encouragement to you and your steely-eyed warrior... YOU NEED TO GET IT...did you get it? Yes or No? Get it....

My best to Marc and the kids.

Shawn.

IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS! It is a living hell wondering why you can't love anymore, wondering when the nightmares will stop, wondering why I'm "nuts" and thinking no one else is, fearing talking to my loved ones for fear I will break down and start crying until my brains drip out of my nose, pretending you are not a veteran like the "real" grunts are, feeling guilty that I survived, etc. etc. NOT TALKING TO WIVES OF RETURNEES ABOUT THE FACTS AND MYTHS OF PTSD IS CRUEL, BARBARIC AND A SURE PRRESCRIPTION FOR DIVORCES, SUICIDES, AND MORE SECONDARY CASUALTIES CALLED KIDS!!!! You know who perfected this moronic method? THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AND ITS STEP CHILD THE VA: "There is no evidence that dioxins (e.g. Agent Orange, Purple and White) have any health risks what so ever." Ooooops. Then, "Only Air Force Ranchhand crews were exposed and Agent Orange was only applied in limited areas by C-130's. No hand crews, no trucks, no chppers." Ooooooooops. Then, "Well, there might have been a couple of BIZZILION tons of dioxins dropped in Vietnam, but all your health effects and cancers are psychosomatic." Finally, ooooooooooooops and ah sh$#^#(% (s$#^#@(%)! "While we stand by our previous 20 years of lying to you, but if you happen to get 12 kinds of cancers and your children have spina bifida we'll send you some money each month without admitting we've been lying to you for 30 years!!!"

SPEAK THE TRUTH, IN LOVE. I don't need "a degree" to determine I have a problem when it stalks me like a shadow. IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS!

Hi Steph,
Glad to see you posting here. This forum is for everyone and its where we should all be able to zero in on this thing.....these guys sure got it right. Ignorance is not bliss and what Don has said is sure a fact...the families sure are getting programmed for disaster with the same old stuff...

Marc, you hang in there...

Good one, Oboe... hey Dana...

Marc & Steph,

Stay proactive... continue to communicate with the wives... don't compromise a bit.

Whether it's evangelizing, warning them about the cult their involved with or educating them about PTSD... let them know what the deal is... show your wounds, walk with a limp. What they do with the info after that is on them.

You guys plant, maybe someone else will water, then someone else will reap... and on and on and on.

Marc, you battle-hardened steely-eyed Republican Guard-killin highly motivated Man O' God... did you happen to check out the rusted, destroyed hulks of Iraqi armor laying out in the desert... outside of the water processing plants, oil refineries, et al. Yeah, that was our handy-work from 1990-91... thank you, thank you....

Shawn. :bandit: :bandit: :bandit: :bandit:

How are these wifes gonna handle when thier spouse comes home. The government has just begun to admit something like PTSD even exsists, let alone know how to handle it. Many of those ladies that you are talking about are in for a rude awaking.
