Well, as some of you may know, I have been participating in a program at our church called "Celebrate Recovery" for all of your hurts, habits, and hang-ups. I am in the anger/depression group. Well, this guy came in last night suffering from PTSD. He had been a marine from '93-'97 and was in and out of iraq in the aftermath of desert storm. As I listened to this guy, i couldnt shake the feeling that I knew him from somewhere. And then it clicked... he was the cousin of my sister's high school sweetheart. I had grown up with this guy in childrens church and youth, but the years since we last saw each other, we had both gained a little weight and wrinkles. He was actually admitted to a clinic in topeka for treatment of PTSD where men from point man would come once a week and visit and take them out for a meal. I had no idea this organization was involved with doing that. Well, anyway it was nice to see him and its good to know that he made it back. I was glad to be able to talk with him.

Hey Recon, Celebrate Recovery is going Strong at the church I attend also. We meet every Friday Night, we start at Six PM. So far we are up to seven groups and growing; Veterans in Recovery being one of the groups. One thing everyone feels imediately is "LOVE" and Respect. This is where a Veteran can come and relax, if he/she wants to tell their story they can, if they are too uptight tto talk they can listen to others. well that's my two cents worth: God bless each and every one.

The Topeka program is one of the highest rated in the VA system. Pointman has been involved since 1997 with the spiritualityportion. Pointman leaders are periodically allowed in the group meetings. Steve and Rosie Williams, along with Gene and Carolyn Roles do an outstanding job.
They are there once a week and as you said, provide a fellowship dinner each week and participate in the program. If you want to know more about that or a contact, e-mail me and I will get the information for you.

I have toyed with the idea of asking our recovery pastor if he wants to take a group in this direction. I think i will. We just started a group for nicotine addiction this week.
