of Newark Valley
Dana R. Post, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. He was also reunited with his loving wife of 60 years, Alice, who preceded him in death on July 2, 2000. Dana is survived by his three children, Rodney (Mary) Post, Steven (Mary) Post, Dawn (Rev. Frederick) Bunts; his brother, Raymond (Mary Ellen) Post; nine grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A lifelong resident of Newark Valley, Dana was born there on September 4, 1920. He was the son of the late Ira and Bessie (Reynolds) Post. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and a 42 year employee of IBM, Endicott, retiring in 1982. Dana was a devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Maine for 52 years. His hobbies included wood crafting and working in his prized organic vegetable garden.
A Celebration of Dana's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 16th, at The First Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Maine, NY, with his son-in-law, Rev. Frederick Bunts officiating. The family will receive friends there from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery. Friends wishing to remember Dana with a memorial are asked to consider donations to the First Baptist Church of Maine, NY in lieu of flowers.
