Carroll Elwood Trego, 88, passed away on July 17, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.

Carroll was born in Peoria, Illinois on April 12, 1921, the only child of Grover and Mamie Trego. He served his country in WWII, captured on Wake Island and a POW for 4 years. Carroll was proud to be an American, a Marine and an ex-POW. He was active in the D.A.V., American Ex-Prisoners of War and Wake Island Survivors groups along with the Masons and the Beverly High School Athletic Supporters.

He was an active square dancer, golfer and craftsman. He loved to share his plastic canvas hobby.

Carroll is survived by sons John (Debbie) of Portage MI and Robert (Tabatha) of Abbeville SC, and daughter Nancy (Mike) of Moorpark. He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert, Jeff and David Trego, Vanessa, Nicholas and Joshua Trego and Matthew Stewart, along with several great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rose Family of Simi Valley. Services with military honors will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, August 21, 2009.
