Cpl. Daniel Lee O'Brien, age 22, of MCAS Beaufort, SC, formerly of Sedalia, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
He was born August 11, 1986 in Morehead City, NC, a son of Timothy O'Brien and Shelly (Jett) Limback. In August 2008, in Daytona, FL, he was married to Lisa Stebenne, who survives.
Daniel was a wonderful father to his daughter, Alexis Leah O'Brien. She was "number one" in his life. He loved his best friends, Zach Nicholson and Cale Sanders. They were friends since grade school and known among friends and family as "The Three Musketeers". He loved sports, especially baseball. He also played youth league football and enjoyed golf and fishing. He grew up in a family of Marines and joined this family tradition, graduating boot camp in August 2005. He was passionate about the Marines and was very well respected by his fellow Marines. He served in Unit MALS 31 and served two tours in Iraq. Daniel's family describes him as having the biggest heart in the world. He was a man who would do anything for anyone. At his death he proved this by giving the gift of life through the donation of a heart valve to a child.
