Patricia Elizabeth (Cotcher) Spencer, 74, former resident of Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Westminster Village in Clarksville, IN. She is survived by her husband James E. Spencer, of 50 wonderful years; 2 daughters, Gayle Gotner and Marjorie Makepeace; 3 grandchildren James Gotner, Charlene Lefebvre, and Andrew Montague. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Sonja Gotner, in 2008. Born in Steubenville, OH, April 7, 1935, the only child of Charles and Esther Cotcher. She enlisted with the United States Marine Corps in June 1953, stationed at the headquarters of Camp LeJuene. While in the service, she received the National Defense Service Medal. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, she went to work for the Marine Corps Finance Department in Kansas City, MO. She retired in 1988 as an Advanced Disbursing Clerk. She was an active member in the Marine Corps League, and was a vibrant member of her family and community. As a mother, grandmother, and expectant great- grandmother, she will be forever loved and remembered. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 3 p.m., at Westminster Village, 2200 Greentree N, Clarksville, IN 47129; (812) 282-9691. The family requests donations be made to the Disabled Veterans or the Marine Corps League in her honor.
