Otto A. Grishkat Jr., 66, MGySGT, USMC (RET), died June 6, 2009, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
MGySGT Grishkat was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Otto A. Grishkat Sr. and Violet Morgan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Paul A. Grishkat.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduation from high school and served his country honorably for 28 years, retiring in 1987. During his career, he had two tours in Vietnam and for more than a year, was a funeral escort for soldiers that were in killed in Vietnam. He loved animals of all kinds, especially wildlife.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann "Judy" Coller, and one sister, Leah Grishkat, of Sarasota, Fla.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Cotten Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
