Nicholas J. Outrakis, Major USMC Ret., 76, of Seminole, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 4 at the VA Hospital Bay Pines Hospice Unit after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He was born in Denbo, PA on Nov. 16, 1932 to John Ountrakis and Rose Krankota. Husband, father, uncle, grandfather, marine for 27 years, served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a fighter when he needed to be and a lover of life an his family. His life was dedicated to serving others. He was strong and brave, yet kind and compassionate, and always had a way of making everyone around him laugh. He was not only our hero, but a hero in general and will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be conducted 10 am Tuesday, June 9 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery Gazebo. He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Ann Lawry; daughter, Rosanna Glode; granddaughters, Nastasia Markiewicz and Annelise Glode; sister-in-law, Angeline Outrakis and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the VA Hospice 5C at Bay Pines or Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery at Bushnell.
