Allan Sutherland of Eugene died June 9 of age-related causes. He was 86. A private graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
He was born March 4, 1923, in Portland to William and Isabella Henry Sutherland. He married Bernice Cox on Nov. 10, 1945, in Connellsville, Pa. She died Jan. 28, 2003.
He graduated from Oregon State University. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, flying airplanes in the South Pacific. He worked as an engineer for Shell Oil.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Tucson, Ariz., D. Scott of Newberg, and Kenneth of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Patricia Allan of Beaverton; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
