LAKE CITY — Mrs. Jeanne Crouthamel Stewart, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in McLeod Hospice House after a brief illness.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Reading, Pa., on Dec. 4, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Hastings Crouthamel and the late Eva Brown Crouthamel, and was a widow of the late Dick Stewart. Mrs. Stewart was a member of Lake City United Methodist Church. She served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, was an accomplished artist and was an avid gardener.

Mrs. Stewarts surviving family includes her three sons, William J. Rocky Stewart (Kathy) of Columbia, Dale Stewart (Alice) of Bennettsville and Sonny Stewart of Lake City; her sister, Doris Aiken of Schenectady, N.Y.; her brother, Rev. Dale Crouthamel of Pipersville, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Robin C. Stewart of Myrtle Beach, William J. Stewart III Myrtle Beach, Jennifer Fausch (Allen) of Winston Salem, N.C., Beth Stewart of Bennettsville, Cory Stewart of Lake City, Casey Stewart of Lake City and Katie Hoffman (Jason) of Charleston; and her great-grandson, Corbin Hoffman.

The family will have visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Graveside services for Mrs. Stewart will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 5, in Lake City Memorial Park.

Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
