James "Jim" Koichi Teramoto ----- Jim passed away at home on May 28th, 2009, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kojiro and Suzuko Teramoto and sister Jean Nakamura. Jim is survived by his wife Amy, daughters Kim Lum and Jennifer Wong, sons-in-law Cyrus Lum and Keith Wong, grandchildren Jalen Wong, Brennan Wong and Jia Lum, sisters Lili Moriyama, Mary Lau and Sachiko Taketa, and brother Bob Teramoto. Jim was born on October 25, 1937 in Arroyo Grande, CA; the 4th of 6 children. During WWII his family was interned at Gila River, Arizona and returned to Arroyo Grande in 1945. In 1950 Jim's family moved to the Bay Area. After his junior year in high school (1955), Jim joined the Marine Corps and served until July, 1959. After serving in the military, he attended San Jose City College and Bailey Tech in St. Louis, MO. He began his career in the field of telecommunications in 1963 at Western Electric and retired from Lucent in 1994. During his retirement, he was able to devote more time to his love of fishing and cooking. Jim will be remembered for his honesty, generosity, sense of humor and for being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. We will miss him dearly. A memorial service for Jim will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 566 North 5th St., San Jose, CA 95112.
