Anita Claire Elisee "Mac" Knapps ----- "Mac" died on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary, at the age of 85. She was a native of Massachusetts and a resident of Pinckneyville, Miss. She retired as a guard with the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, where she worked for much of her life. Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by Dave Cologne, pastor. Burial in Heavenly Acre Cemetery, Pinckneyville. She is survived by nine children, Cynthia Honeycutt and her husband, Kenneth Joe, of Angola, Christine Gauf and her husband, Robert Gauf, of Tunica, Carolyn Whitstine and her husband, Randy, of Zachary, Celeste Faulkner and her husband, Chester, of Port Charlotte, Fla., Clara Knapps, of Tunica, Connie Ross and her husband, Terry, of Pinckneyville, Henry Knapps, of Jackson, Miss., Robert Knapps, of Pinckneyville, and Joseph Knapps Jr. and his wife, Gloria, of Arcadia, Fla.; two sisters, Eva Bouereaua, of Shalimar, Fla., and Edna Oguluacz, of Springfield, Mass.; brother, William "Bill" Elisee, of New Castle, Del.; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alvin Knapps Sr.; and sons, David C. Knapps and Jack A. Knapps. Pallbearers will be Terry Ross, Brad Whitstine, Davy Knapps, Joey Knapps, Shane Ramsey and Austin Cruse. Honorary pallbearers are Micheal Honeycutt, Jonathan Meredith, Kenneth Honeycutt Jr., John Perry, Preston Johnson, Mikel Vannoy and Jacob Vannoy. She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a high school graduate. She was a devoted mother, homemaker and grandmother who was always family oriented. She also loved her two pets, Princess and Bre, Western movies and completing crossword puzzles. More than anything, she loved being with her family.
