Arlene E. Beach, Age 86, of Elmira Heights, NY. She was born May 17, 1923 in Newark Valley, NY, daughter of the late Leslie and Mary (Sullivan) Jones and passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold "Rex" Beach on December 13, 1993; sister, Marion Cobb; and brothers, Vincent and Francis Jones. She is survived by her children, Nancy Rios of Elmira, Vincent (Sherri O'Connor) Beach of Binghamton, NY, Karen (Martin) Breinlinger of Elmira Heights, Edwin (Melanie) Beach of Horseheads, and Linda Yusko of Elmira Heights; grandchildren, Kimberly (Steve) Moore, Kerry (Allan Doig) Peterson, Jeremy Rios, Dakota and Emily Breinlinger, Michael and Keith Beach, Kevin and Kellie Yusko; great-grandchildren, Heather, Shane, Dustin and Jared Moore; brothers, Leslie Jones of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Robert (Holly) Jones of Coopers Plains, NY; sister, Joan Grover of New Milford, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beach was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII; was a member of the American Legion, Post 154 Elmira Heights; volunteered for over 20 years at the Steele Memorial Library; was an avid gardener and enjoyed creating ceramics. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, May 28th, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, May 29th, at 10 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 205 E. 13th St., Elmira Heights. Rev. Robert Atkins, Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Arlene through donations to St. John's Episcopal Church. The family wishes to thank Arlene's wonderful caregivers, Carol Holecek, Bonnie Butler, Strawberry Mansion Society and the staff at Arnot Ogden 4D.
