Robert L. Chipman, 81 - of Smithville, Galloway Twp. passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2009 at his residence. He was born and raised in Waterville, Maine. He joined the Marines in 1946 and served over 20 years. He then worked as a systems Analyst for the U. S. Government. He formerly lived in New Cumberland, PA, Levittown, PA, before moving to Galloway in 1983. He founded Concerned Residents of Smithville and was a volunteer on the Architectural Review and Budget Review committees of Smithville Community Association. He was an Atlantic County Republican Committeeman and ran for Town Council. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Chipman; his daughters, Candice L. Zola (Mark) of Glenmoore, PA and Cynthia A. Pratt (Clyde) of Gilbertsville, PA; his grandchildren, Marisa Zola, Amanda Zola, Colby Pratt, and Corey Pratt; his siblings, Richard Chipman of Waterville, ME, Pauline Gallant of Waterville, ME, Mary DeLourde of Waterbury, CN, and Arlene Yerkes of Pittsfield, MA. Bob's Viewings will be 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, April 7, 2009 and 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd., Galloway Twp., NJ (609-641-0001) where his Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery.
