NEWPORT - Myron Chambers, 77, of Newport, died March 20, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at Bogue Banks Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Bath officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Park.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and a past member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include wife, Oreanda "June" Chambers; daughters, Deborah Whaley of Knightdale, Sandy Choate and husband David of Newport and Sharon Tetterton of Morehead City; sons, Clifford "Sonny" Chambers of Newport, Marvin Chambers of Four Oaks and Wayne Chambers of Morehead City; brothers, Arlos Chambers of Havelock and Orvel Chambers of Petersburg, Va.; sister, Zelda Chambers of Burgaw; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
