Rick Barrett, a former St. Louisan, died suddenly (Jan. 16, 2009) at his home in Zihuatanejo, south of Ixtapa on Mexico's Pacific Coast. Rick attended Kirkwood High School, but left school to enlist in the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He later lived in Santa Barbara, Calif., for 25 years, but returned to St. Louis to care for his aging parents and worked at Glendale Chrysler Plymouth. Always in search of the perfect sunset on the perfect beach, Rick traveled extensively to Mexico and throughout the Caribbean before choosing Zihuatanejo. After retiring there, he met, and married, the love of his life. He is survived by his wife, Evelia, his adopted son, Richard, and a brother, Rodger Barrett of St. Louis. The world is a colder place with his passing. Adios, Fat Man.
