Alvin G. Richmond of Seminole, died Jan. 13, 2009. Born in Grandin, MO, he was a retired Sgt. Major, USMC. A veteran of WWII and Vietnam, he earned a Silver Star on Tarawa in 1943. He was a retired police officer of Providence, RI and chief of the Bay Pines VA Police Dept. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, American Legion Post 252, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League and the Fraternal Order of Police. Survived by wife, Joan; sons, Alvin Jr. (Cathy) of Wellsville, NY, Eugene (Ann Marie) of Cranston, RI, Evan (Robin) of Winter Haven, Neil (Brenda) of Naples; & daughter, Beth (Capt. Karl) Van Deusen of Spotsylvania, PA; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grand- children; brothers, Norman & Harlon in MO, Floyd in OK and sister, Doris Schmaltz in MO.
