HOMEWOOD – David D. Wood Sr., age 77, late of Homewood passed on Jan. 13, 2009.
Beloved husband of Vivian Wood nee Jacobs. Dear son of the late Aden and Ruth Wood. Loving father of David D. (Ann McComb) Wood Jr., Michael A. (Donna) Wood, Diane (Ernesto) Heredia, Kathy (Bruce) Simpson and Thomas (Christine) Wood. Cherished grandfather of 13, great-grandfather of seven. Retired Marine Corps veteran honorably serving for 20 years in Korea and Vietnam.
A lifetime member and former commandant of the South Suburban Marine Corps League, Devil Dogs and Marine Corps Mustang Association, Mr. Wood retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after 20 years. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Ryan Funeral Home, 18022 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Interment was held Friday in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
