JACKSONVILLE - James "Jim" Gifford Wisdom, 81, of Jacksonville, died Jan. 20, 2009, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, The Tyler Semper Fidelis Masonic Lodge 680 AF & AM, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Jim was very active in the community, having volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service today at Johnson Funeral Home Jacksonville.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Johnson Funeral Home Jacksonville with Deaconess Kay Swindell officiating. Burial will be at Onslow Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.
Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Jim to the Tyler Semper Fidelis Masonic Lodge 680 AF & AM or a favorite charity.
Survivors include wife, Bettye Ann Wisdom of the home; four daughters, Judy Ballinger of Hermitage, Tenn., Georgia Frazelle and husband Allan Sr. of Jacksonville, Billie Corinne Rosser of Lexington, Ky., and Constance Diane Rosser of Beaufort; one brother, Fred Wisdom of Arkansas; two sisters, Ruth Phillips of Florida and Wilma Luenburk of Marrietta, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Stacey Starrett, Shelley Atkinson, Stefanie Ellis, Allan Frazelle Jr., William Frazelle, Jessica Straub and Wesley Ehn; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
