Carol A. McGaffick, age 72, of W. Bank St., Albion, died at her home January 16, 2009. She was born November 5, 1936, in Albion, a daughter of James and Helen (Nelson) Brace.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albion. Carol graduated from Albion High School, Class of 1955 and was a former employee of GE in Brockport. In 1981, Carol received her LPN and was employed at Lakeside Memorial Hospital and Park Ridge Care Center, retiring from there in 2000. Carol served in the US Marines from 1955-1958 and was a member of the Sheret Post #35 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Carol and her husband, Charles, owned and operated Gaines Basin Par 3 Golf Course in Albion.Carol was predeceased by her father, James; brother, James; sons, James and John. She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Mary McGaffick; sons, Charles (Robert Smalley), Stephen (Shirley Smith), all of Albion; mother, Helen Brace; brother, Donald (Laura) Brace of Albion; aunts, Ida Cook of NY City, Alta Lansing of Pennsylvania, Marie Brace of Mississippi; several nieces nephews, cousins.Her family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 W. Avenue, Albion, Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM, where her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Mt. Albion Cemetery.
