2nd Lieutenant Trevor Blake McCrory, 25, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Brent, Alabama, passed away January 9, 2009. Blake was born Feb. 7, 1983, in Dallas County.

Blake was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin McCrory, and his aunt, Susan Hightower.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Hubbard of Brent, Ala.; his father, Robert McCrory of Houston, Texas; and brothers, Jason McCrory of Tuscaloosa and Hunter Hubbard of Brent. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Vivian Curb, two nephews, Taylor and Harrison McCrory, and his fiancée, Karen Keshishian of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Blake was a 2001 graduate of Bibb County High School and graduated from The University of Alabama in December 2007, cum laude, receiving the Department of Kinesiology Academic Achievement Award. He served our country bravely and proudly in the U.S. Marines from 2004 to 2006 and was presently serving in the U.S. Army pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy. One of Blake's favorite quotes in life was the following: "You do the best you can for what you know, and when you know better, you do better."

A funeral with full military honors and rites will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Marion United Methodist Church in Marion, Ala. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon to 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Memorial Gardens. The Reverend James Waters, Jr. will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel will be directing.

Active pallbearers will be the military honor guard.

Honorary pallbearers are the 2000 and 2001 graduating classes of Bibb County High School, employees of the Northport Acute Care Physical Therapy, employees of Fitness One Gym, and the Medical Specialist Corps of students in San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Blake's memory to Compassionate Friends, Tuscaloosa Area Chapter, 3328 University Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
