Hello Everyone,

Our local Point Man Ministries Outpost 101 has been working on a "Raise the Flag" project to provide the City of Coos Bay with a 60' Flagpole to honor those who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Nation as well as all who have worn the uniforms of the United States military. We are happy to say that the flagpole was raised into place today. It will fly a 12' x 18' U.S. Flag and a 5' x 8' POW/MIA Flag.

You can read more about the project and view photos on our website here:

Now we will be able to place full focus on our "David DeWett Veterans Memorial Wayside" (DDVMW) project. You can read about it here:

Many Thanks to all who have volunteered and donated to make these projects successful...!

God Bless One and All,
Mike Harris

Outpost Monthly Report

Monthly Report for PM Outpost 101 in Coos Bay, Oregon.

Our Outpost meets regularly every Tuesday evening at 7 PM.

For the month of May 2007 average attendance at the Outpost has been approximately 20-25.

The Outpost meets at the Bay Area Four Square Church. Our meetings last about 2 hours.

Some activities our members have participated in this month are:

• Southwestern Oregon Veteran Outreach (SOVO) is a joint effort between our local Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 799 and Point Man Ministries Outpost 101. Our office opened in May and we’ve already had around 100 contacts. Our (3) accredited Veteran Service Representatives (VSR) are busy helping local veterans with claims. The Coos County Commissioners voted to present SOVO with $12,000.00 for the first year. Our goal is to be a quality network for our Active Duty, National Guard, Reserves, Veterans and family members. We are working with other veteran service organizations to have a greater impact.
• Our local OP submitted a proposed 60’ Flag Pole Project to the city of Coos Bay. The flagpole was raised on June 21st and will be dedicated on July 4th. Thank You Lord…! http://www.pointman101.org/Flag.pole.project.htm
• Some of our Harley Davidson riders have participated in rides to support the “Patriot Guard” in their effort to honor those lost in our current wars: http://www.patriotguard.org/
• We are seeking our Lord on a possible permanent location for our OP. We need His continued direction.
• Continued upkeep and planning on our “Dave DeWett Veterans Memorial Wayside”. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department gives funding to non-profit veterans organizations to develop war memorials. We are in the process of compiling our grant application to submit to the “Veterans’ and War Memorial Grants” Committee in July 2007.
• Joint ventures with VVA Chapter 799 and the new “Southwestern Oregon Veterans Outreach” (SOVO) of which Hank Elsworth and Mike Harris are Board Members. The SOVO website is being revamped: http://www.sovo1.org
• Our Care Package and Letter Writing campaign for active duty personnel from the South Coast region have slowed down, but we are still sending out Care Packages once in awhile.
• Helping veterans with their VA claims.
• Participation on the local Parade Committee.
• Continuation of the PMIM forum in Coquille at 7 PM on Mondays and the new group that meets from 4:30 – 6:00 PM on Tuesdays before our regular 7 PM meeting. They are “Group” settings with the Holy Spirit at the Center. The gatherings are going very nicely.
• Continuing program to help needy veterans and families. We provide veterans and families with gift certificates from our local Safeway Stores and Wal-Mart.

Hank has committed to a new church with a pastoral covering for the Outpost.

Other Outposts that we are in contact with are: Florence

New veterans who have begun meeting with us are: 2

Other comments: We thank our Lord for the wisdom and knowledge to help us to continue to be servants here in our local area.

Prayer Requests, Blessings and Answered Prayer:

• For upcoming ministry outreach at the Rhododendron Festival in Florence. The Vietnam Moving Wall will be present as well. Update: The Moving Wall event went well. We had to pull out of the Rhodie parade.
• Dennis F. has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Pray for God’s guidance and comfort for he and Vicki as they learn about the disease and confront it head on. They are leaning on the Lord in this matter.
• For Hank’s son “Cam” as he is beginning a new life with new fervor. Update: Cam took a huge fall and will return to prison. God never gives up on us so let’s not give up on Cam. Pray that he will repent fully and seek God for his future direction. Also lift up Hank and Georgie as they turn Cam over in prayer.
• Mark – His wife continues to struggle with depression and a incurable spinal disease.
• For Larry M. as he has not been attending in a long time. Update: He is isolating, but doing well.
• For Larry M. (another brother) as he hasn’t been attending. He’s been instructed to lose as much weight as he can due to his heart condition. Let’s believe with him for the strength.
• For continued wisdom and discernment regarding a permanent home for our OP.
• For “Lonnie” as he struggles with patience regarding his PTSD claim. Update: We haven’t heard from Lonnie in a long time. Pray for him to become more involved.
• Dave W. as he is struggling with prescription drug addiction.
• That the Holy Spirit would draw hurting veterans and family members to our Outpost members. Note: God has been abundantly gracious in honoring this request.
• For continued grace and growth with our ladies as they are not meeting regularly now. Update: A few ladies are coming with their husbands. Pray for a Homefront Leader to step forward.
• “J.R.” to draw closer to the Lord.
• For “Dennis” to see the need to abstain from a habit that has a hold on him.
• For the “PM Group Forums” at the Foursquare Church in Coquille and the new one at the Foursquare Church in Coos Bay. We continue to thank these churches for allowing us to use their facilities..!
• Unspoken request for “R” who is struggling with balancing ministry and personal struggles. He was increased to 70% by VA. Let’s believe that VA will rate him 100% so he and his wife will have some security after their decades of faithfully serving others. Update: He had C&P examination and is awaiting the VA decision.
• For ALL of us as we seek God’s will for the David DeWett Veterans Memorial Wayside. May many be drawn to it and receive spiritual guidance. Update: We were blessed with a $1,200.00 gift and some smaller gifts so our account total is around $2,500.00 now. Pray for us as we seek “Partnerships” from our local communities and as we compile our grant application to submit to the OPRD (see above) and that we will be successful in honoring our veterans with this Memorial. We found out that we WILL be able to place the memorial on the Highway 101 right-of-way as long as we have approval from ODOT. Praise be to our Lord..! A veteran who we helped with his claims has drawn up the blueprints for the wayside and he’ll deliver them today. The icing is he’s an engineer and has signed off on the plans as well. Wow..!!!
