Phoenix, Ari. – Filmmaker Larry Cappetto of Grand Junction, Colo., will speak during a veteran’s memorial program this July, which features a complimentary screening of his powerful Vietnam War documentary, “Vietnam Remembered.”

Hansen Mortuaries is extending an open invitation to area residents to celebrate the lives of military veterans by attending the program and free screening of the film at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3 at the Desert Springs Bible Church in Paradise Valley.

“Vietnam Remembered” captures the compelling stories of the brave men who bravely fought for their countries in the difficult and turbulent times of the Vietnam War. Cappetto’s camera captures veterans as they tell about their experiences and struggles during a war that inflicted enormous loss of life and caused considerable national anguish. Against a backdrop of pride, patriotism and dignity, the veterans’ vivid accounts are described in detail and with an outpouring of emotion.

Brad Hansen of Hansen Mortuaries says the funeral home decided to show the film locally as a tribute to local veterans after hearing about the overwhelming response Cappetto’s documentaries have received across the country.

“You can read about the Vietnam War in history books, but nothing is as impactful as hearing about it from the people who were there and survived it,” Hansen says. “Capetto’s recent interviews with veterans give us tremendous insights into what these young men endured, and what was going through their minds. It reminds us that freedom comes at a high price.”

“They sacrificed so much of themselves in this war, and we owe them much honor and thanks,” Hansen says.

The showing of “Vietnam Remembered” is made available through Hansen Mortuaries’ membership in Selected Independent Funeral Homes, an international association of independently owned funeral homes that support Cappetto’s work.

The Desert Springs Bible Church is located at 16215 N Tatum Blvd. There is no charge for admission to the veterans’ memorial program, courtesy of Hansen Mortuaries. More information is available by calling C.K. Parsons, Community Relations Director, at 602 524 4024 or visiting www.hansenmortuary.com.

A preview of Cappetto’s film can be seen at www.veteranshistory.org. Full-length DVDs of “Lest They Be Forgotten” will be available for purchase after the film viewing.
